if you are new to Matcha, don’t be afraid of it. Yes its super green color can be just a whee intimidating, but hey with super colors come super powers.
The simple explanation of Matcha is that it is the powder from Green tea leaves, high in antioxidants and caffeine. For a more detailed explanation and some tips what to do with this magic stuff, head over to My Pantry page. A Matcha smoothie bowl is pretty much a free for all. There is not really a detailed recipe because you should just put in the bowl what you like and have already at home. This is what I put in mine.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup yoghurt (vanilla, berry, Greek, whatever you crave)
- 1 TBS Matcha powder
- About a cup of fresh fruit. In my case it was beautiful Cara Cara Oranges that I found at Aldi (there I said it, yes, I shop at Aldi, of course, Im German).
- I also added some fresh raspberries I took out of my sons smoothie stash.
- next for some sweetness I added a spoonful of honey since the Matcha can come across as bitter for some palates
- for some crunch I added a handful of pepitas and some berry shredded wheat.
This is truly a breakfast of champions and you can customize with different fruit like blueberries or kiwis, different sweet components like agave syrup or caramel sauce and different crunch textures like almond slivers, different types of granola or cereal. Maybe have a Matcha bowl party with the different components in little bowls (think taco bar, yes weird comparison but that’s how my brain thinks. Have fun, explore, enjoy
